To have purpose, one needs an engine to drive their soul. Motivation is the need present within individuals. It is the process that initiates, directs, and maintains goal-oriented behaviors. Without motivation, human behavior remains dormant. This piece aims to provide students with motivation through allowing them to use stairs rather than an elevator. This is done by incorporating a drawing machine to the stairs in a way that when a student walks upstairs, sensors are activated and a drawing is created. The drawing machine consists of two motors: one that runs continuously, and one that runs according to how many students use the stairs. This piece provides students with a deeper drive towards motivation through the simple act of creating a portrait through one’s feet.
